Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress singer and dancer. Early Broadway roles included Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. in You Can't Take It With You, she won the Tony Award as Best Featured actor in the Play. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford spent her career collaborating with acclaimed actors and directors across the stage, film and TV and she will continue that collaboration with a variety of upcoming projects. Ashford in the near future will play opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's Hulu-exclusive show Welcome to Chippendales which premieres November 22. Ashford currently works on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust opposite Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. The film is an Hulu Original and will be streaming on Disney DTC. Ashford's Broadway return will take place on March 20, 2023. He stars opposite Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will serve as the creators of the show. Ashford has most recently played Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment based on the national crisis that swept into Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters for the first impeachment trial in more than 100 years. Ashford was the main character in two seasons of CBS Comedy B Positive. She also appeared in the cult series, created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, with legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. No stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her role as Essie. Some other Broadway credits for Ashford include Sunday in the Park, as George Wicked legally Blonde, as well as the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this role, she earned the Tony Award nomination. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and now divides her life between Los Angeles, and New York.
